India Fest 2017 Integration by Music

The Indian Association of Sligo are hosting a spectacular performance of music,dance and culture called India Fest 17, this is an event not to be missed.The theme of the event is 'Integration by Music' with proceeds in aid of North West Hospice.The Renowned Indian Band' Soul Beats',award winning dancers' Mudra' and much more....!

UPC finale held on 10th September

Finale of urban peace collective (UPC) held on 10th September at Sligo education centre at IT Sligo. Indian association Sligo was one of the 9 groups took part in the one year project. Representing IAS, Vice President Sheoji Ram Bairwa, Treasurer Thomas Mathew, PRO Proloy Banerjee, Committee members Chinnappa Reddy and Freddy Francis attended the event. Sheoji Ram presented our Project report. During his speech he thanked the UPC for all the guidance and help throughout the year.

Cross border event held on 24th August

Our last project with urban peace collective (Peace III) held on 24th August in Castleblaney in Co.Monaghan .We travelled from Sligo in 2 coaches and met with a group 15 Indians living in Enniskillen, Co.Feremanagh .Everybody enjoyed travelling together. During the afternoon, after dinner, we had a discussion session about the common problems faced in both sides of the border. Lot of real stories both good and bad were shared during the discussion. We departed from there with a view to organise more of these kind of cross border meetings.

 

 

IAS celebrated 67th Independence day

 

Mayor of Sligo Cllr.Marcella Mc Garry remembered the great struggle India had before Independence and the growth post independence. Addressing the members of the Indian association of Sligo, from the Show grounds in Sligo on the India's 67th Independence Day on 15 August, She thanked for the contributions ,the Indian community making in Sligo.She also remembered late. Johny Chadda being one of the great role models in Sligo from India. Siji Mathai welcomed the gathering and Dr.Shyam Pathak gave the vote of thanks. Sophie Babu Alookaran was co -ordinator of the program.
